Wolves return to the court

The boys basketball team will lean on its leadership to have a good season this year.

"Our seniors work together like a well-oiled machine," head coach Laurie Ivie said. "Together, they make each other better. We expect our seniors to do big things."

Those seniors are Grant Cobb, Haden Counts, Lane Hutchison, Kyle Ivie, Matthew Seymour, Chase Stoeger and Braxton Yeager. Six of the seven have all contributed at the varsity level prior to this season.

The team also has a handful of juniors and three sophomores who the team will look at to contribute to its success.

"I am impressed with the coachability, dedication and team chemistry this team has shown, and the leadership our seniors bring," Ivie said.

"We have a group of young men that are invested in their teammates and our program. They are extremely focused on our team goals."

The Wolves are ready to play and they will get that opportunity this weekend in Riverton when they compete in the Bill Strannigan Invite.

They will have a game Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

"Preseason tournaments are a great opportunity for us to get different looks with our players to see where we're at and where we need to go," Ivie said.

However, Green River fans won't have to wait long to see the team on its home court, when they compete in the Flaming Gorge Classic Dec. 13-15.

"The Flaming Gorge Classic will be a great gauge for us regarding where we are, and what improvement areas we need to focus on before conference play begins," Ivie said.

"As always, the goal is to get better every time we step onto the court."
