The Lady Wolves Swimming Team showed they had what it took to swim with the big schools and came home with a second-place finish.
During the meet, the several Lady Wolves broke school records. Swimmers Lauren Jensen, Hailey Uhrig, Lauren Lee and Ashley Jensen broke the school record in the 200-yard medley relay, while L. Jensen, L. Lee, Alexa Lauze and Sydni Sanders broke the school record by 6 seconds in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Hailey Uhrig once again broke the school record in the 100-yard breaststroke.
"The girls were excited," head coach Colleen Seiloff said. "They really worked hard this season. It was nice to watch them celebrate."
She said it's hard to pick a couple of swimmers that stood out at state because they all gave it their best. She said even if they didn't make it into the top 12, the Lady Wolves who made it to state gave it their all.
Wyoming Coaches' Association named Hailey Uhrig to the All-State list after she finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke.
According to WCA guidelines, the All-State honor is given to the top two finishers in each event and the winning relay team in each class at the state meet.
That wouldn't be the only All-State swimmers for Green River though. Seiloff said more All-State honors are given out to swimmers based on who finished in the top three.
Lady Wolves making this list are L. Jensen, H. Uhrig, L. Lee, A. Jensen for taking second in the 200-yard medley relay, A. Lauze for taking third in the 500-yard freestyle, L. Jensen for taking third in the 100-yard backstroke, H. Uhrig for taking second in the 100-yard breaststroke and L. Jensen, L. Lee, A. Lauze, and S. Sanders for taking third in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
"These girls have really come together as a team and have been supportive of each other," Seiloff said. "It's been really fun just watching them grow as a team."
She said the girls have learned that they have what it takes to be competitive with the other schools and that's making the difference.
