Swimmers gear up for season

The Lady Wolves have been practicing for more than two weeks and it’s already paying off.

The Green River High School Lady Wolves swim team has new goals this year and are ready to obtain them. Head coach Colleen Seiloff said they have decided to get better, stronger, faster and maintain focus throughout the season. This is what the team thought would be good goals for the season.

“If we take care of business throughout the season, we’ll be good at the end of the year,” she said.

This year, about 35 Lady Wolves are on the swimming team. Seiloff said the team is pretty balanced as far as how many seniors, juniors, sophomores and freshmen there are.

“We’re pretty even across the board,” she said. “I think we have experience on all levels and the girls are already working well together.”

What is really helping is how the seniors and juniors have stepped up to become the leaders of the team, while the sophomores and freshmen already know what it takes to be a GRHS swimmer and have risen to the task.

Seiloff said every one of the Lady Wolves are putting in the time and working hard when they get to practice.

The team intends to take the season one meet at a time and treat each meet as another opportunity to improve times and obtain more state qualifiers.

After only one meet, the team has qualified eight swimmers for state and broken one school record.
