Wolves begin tennis season

The Green River High School Tennis team had its first meet of the season during the weekend, taking on Jackson and Riverton.

“We played well against Jackson and Riverton,” head coach Phil Harder said. “We came away with some positives and a some things we need to improve on.”

The team had its first away games against the two teams in Jackson, with both the boys and girls teams competing. The team also competed against Powell and Cody at home Tuesday, seeing mixed resulted against the teams.

Next, the team will compete in Laramie Saturday, taking on both Laramie High School and Torrington.

Green River vs. Riverton

Girls

Singles No. 1: Haylen Cordova (GR) defeated Kierston McDonald (R) in two sets, 6-1 and 6-3.

Singles No. 2: Riverton forfeited to Green River

Doubles No. 1: Audrie Harrison and Kaitlynn Sharp (GR) defeated Grace Rohn and Summeri Bass (R) in two sets, 6-0 and 6-0.

Doubles No. 2: Kelby Pope and Sydney Beutel (GR) defeated Kate McDonald and Mya Tate (R) in two sets, 6-0 and 6-0.

Doubles No. 3: Morgan Atkins and Rory Ratliff (GR) defeated Kai Wilson and Henriette Bakke (R) in two sets, 6-0 and 6-0.

Boys

Singles No. 1: Danny Christensen (GR) defeated Devon Harper (R) in three sets, 5-7, 6-1 and 6-2.

Singles No. 2: Jarrett Atkins (GR) defeated Tanner Selvig (R) in two sets, 6-1 and 6-1.

Riverton forfeited to Green River in Doubles No. 1, 2, and 3.

Singles No. 1: Hyla Chatham (J) defeated Harrison in two sets, 6-3 and 7-5.

Singles No. 2: Sharp defeated Corah Miller (J) in two sets 6-2 and 6-3.

Doubles No. 1: Valerie Stevenson and Rivkah Bar-Oh (J) defeated Anna Kimball Cordova in two sets, 7-5 and 6-3.

Doubles No. 2: Pope and Anna Cordova defeat Megan Tucker and Valerie Stevenson (J) in three sets, 2-6, 6-3 and 6-4.

Doubles No. 3: Shelbee McFadden and Emmie Archibald (GR) defeated Sam Fairbanks and Tashi Ferris (J) in three sets, 6-1, 3-6 and 6-4.

Boys

Singles No. 1: Nate Fairbanks (J) defeated Christensen in two sets, 6-0 and 6-0.

Singles No. 2: Steven Ashurst (J) defeated Atkins in two sets, 6-0 and 6-2.

Doubles No. 1: Jackson Santomavro and Brooks Bradford (J) defeated Connor Friel and Caeden Grubb in two sets, 7-5 and 6-2.
