A successful adoption event in GR

The Green River Animal Control Adoption fair held Saturday was a success.

The adoption fair resulted in place 25 animals in homes, and 4 more who are being tested out for adoption with potential adopters. Out of 33 dogs total, there and only four left. There was a lot of support from the community and businesses to make this happen.

From time to time Green River Animal Control is in a position to help out other animal shelters that are at capacity. Originally, 20 dogs were brought in from a shelter in New Mexico, and four from a shelter in Riverton.

There was so much enthusiasm about this adoption fair that all but 8 were adopted on the first day they were available.

Green River Animal Control contacted Riverton’s shelter and went back for more dogs so there would be some available for the adoption fair. How fantastic that Green River can help these other shelters and hold a successful adoption event to find these animals homes.

As mentioned, there was a lot of support from community members and generous donations that helped this event happen. Paws Spa donated a bath and groom to all the dogs brought in from New Mexico and Riverton. They got them all clean, smelling great, with fresh haircuts, ready to go to their new homes.

The 4H club was a big help during the adoption fair with assisting citizens and cleaning. Additional thanks go out to local businesses donating and helping the event and to all of the city’s residents who donated their time and effort.

If you missed the fair, there are still a few left and new animals come in continuously.

This event is a great example of organizations working together, across states even.

And, of course, the generous spirit of our community, both the businesses and citizens.
