Wolves tennis teams face early competition

The Green River High School Tennis teams got some early competition time in during Saturday’s competition against Jackson and Riverton.

Against Riverton, Gregory and Patrick Marchal, competing in the singles division respectively, won their matches. Gregory defeated Devon Harper in two sets, 6-1 and 6-0, while Patrick defeated Tanner Selvig in two sets, 6-0 and 6-0. In girls competition, the Lady Wolves’ Alex Palmer, defeated Kierston McDonald in two sets, 6-1 and 6-3. Riverton forfeited the remaining boys and girls matches against Green River.

Against Jackson, Green River saw some mixed results against the Broncs. In boys competition, Gregory Marchal fell to Nate Fairbanks in two sets, 3-6 and 4-6, while Patrick Marchal defeated Aaron Scher in two sets, 6-4 and 6-4. In doubles action, the team of Jarrett Atkins and Danny Christensen were defeated by Jackson Santomavro and Jack Van Hollard in two sets, 5-7 and 5-7. The second Wolves team of Jordan Anderson and Brett McKeehan lost to Brooks Bradford and Steven Ashurst in two sets, 0-6 and 2-6. The third team consisting of Atlin Johnson and Jared Harmon beat Trey Dykeman and Jesse Stevenson in two sets, 6-3 and 6-2.

In girls competition, the Lady Wolves’ Kaitlyn Sharp defeated Corah Pitman Miller in two sets, 6-2 and 6-0. Palmer defeated Jacqueline Neishabouri in two sets, 7-5 and 6-0. In doubles actions, the Lady Wolves’ Kelby Pope and Audrie Harrison lost to the team of Hyla Chatham and Mary Muromcew in three sets, 5-7, 7-6 and 5-7. The second team of Haylen Cordova and Anna Cordova lost to Rivkah Bar-Or and Valerie Stevenson in two sets, 1-6 and 2-6. The third team of Morgan Atkins and Sydney Beutel were defeated Megan Tucker and Sam Fairbanks in two sets, 5-7 and 1-6.
