Dawn Marie (Nelson) Ekdahl died June 18, 2017.

She was born Aug. 2, 1954, to Floyd and Norma (Soderfelt) Nelson.

Dawn was the oldest of their four children. She grew up on the family farm near Lake Bronson, Minn., and attended school in Lake Bronson. After graduating High School in Karlstad, Minn., she found her way to Green River, where she made her home. In 1980, Dawn married Jerry Carlson, and two daughters were born to this union, Kayla and Kelsey. In 1986, she was united in marriage with Mike Ekdahl. To this union two more children blessed the family, Kyle and Kassie.

Dawn loved entertaining, socializing, being outdoors and having fun with friends and family. Dawn always took time to help out those who needed it. She loved cooking for friends and family and has passed on some great recipes that will forever be treasured.

She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Norma Nelson, grandparents Nels and Nellie Nelson, Axel Soderfelt, late husband Jerry Carlson and grandson Wiley Ekdahl.

Dawn is survived by her husband Mike, children Kayla, Kelsey, Kyle and his wife Alissa and Kassie. She is also survived by grandchildren Mercedez and Hunter; as well as siblings Terry, Brad, and Robin Nelson.

Dawn's family invites residents to celebrate her life with them. The celebration of life will take at the Fraternal Order of Eagles July 28 at 4 p.m. The celebration will be a potluck and guests are invited to bring their favorite dishes.

They look forward to celebrating Dawn's life with everyone.
