Fisherman's body found

The body of a fisherman who disappeared from the boat ramp at Cedar Springs Marina in Utah in late January has been discovered more than two months later.

Wednesday morning, the Daggett County Sheriff’s Office issued a media release regarding the fisherman, who was identified as Phil Sabey, 59, of Manila, Utah. According to the sheriff’s office, Sabey’s body was spotted floating in the water by two fishermen near the Mustang Ridge area of the Flaming Gorge Reservoir Tuesday at about 3:20 p.m. Sabey’s body was recovered by the sheriff’s office, Utah Highway Patrol and the Utah State Division of Wildlife Resources. Sabey’s family was notified of his discovery at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. Sabey had recently moved to Manila, Utah, from Lyman. Sabey initially disappeared Jan. 20 when his truck was discovered at the boat ramp of Cedar Springs Marina. The truck was still running when sheriff’s deputies investigated the scene at 8:30 a.m. after receiving a call regarding a suspicious vehicle at the ramp. The boat was loose from the trailer, causing authorities to believe Sabey had difficulties unloading his boat, fell into the water and drowned. The initial search was called off Jan. 26 due to worsening weather, after a six-day search involving agencies from Daggett County, Uintah County, U.S. Forest Service, Wasatch County and Summit County.
