Kids keep busy in 2016

Kids throughout Green River also had an exciting year in 2016.

It didn't matter if they were even in school yet, they still had a good time at toddler and story times the Sweetwater County Library hosts.

When they weren't busy at the library, preschool students were having their parents read more than 2,000 books to them.

Last year, three classes at the Sweetwater County Child Developmental Center accomplished this goal and as a reward they celebrated the achievement with a pizza party.

Sweetwater County School District No. 2 students were busy learning how to swim during school hours. Classes went to the new Green River High School Aquatic Center and learned the basics of swimming from those who truly care.

While school children were busy in school, their younger siblings were burning off energy at the Expedition Island Pavilion at the Kids in Motion program. Kids in Motion is a class the city of Green River hosts. It's a way for children ages birth through 5 to have a place to play and explore during the winter months.

In May, children across the district attended kindergarten graduations. Many of the students performed many songs during these programs, while their parents clapped for them.

During the summer months, Green River children flocked to Flaming Gorge Days, Wyoming's Big Show, a circus and Green River's Spaceport Days. When they were not busy with special events, they could be found almost daily at Green River's Splash Park.

In August the kids went back to school, but the fun continued as they got to know their new teachers and some even got to play on new playground equipment.

The children wrapped up the school year by participating in Christmas parties which the school hosted district wide.
