Mary Seivert

Mary Seivert passed away peacefully Aug. 4, 2016, from natural causes.  She was 101years old.

Seivert was born Nov. 12, 1914, in Rock Springs, the daughter of John and Mary Karlin.  She had one sister, Ada Starman, and one brother, John Karlin, who preceded her in death and has one half sister, Bette Powell, of Santa Clara, Calif.

Seivert grew up in Rock Springs, attended Rock Springs High School and graduated with the class of 1933.

Shortly thereafter, she became employed at Mountain Bell Telephone Co. and worked there for 35 years.

On June 12, 1938, she married Tom Seivert of Elkton, S.D., a union that lasted 32 years before Tom passed away in 1970.

They had two daughters, Judy Mrak of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Jean Masters of Durango, Colo.

After retiring, Seivert lived in Rock Springs for most of her life and later moved to Thousand Oaks, Calif., where she has resided at Belmont Village for the past five years.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Judy and Jean and spouse, Chuck, and granddaughters and their spouses, Janel and Ned Downes and Joni and Russell Berg of Thousand Oaks; grandson, West Westbrooke and spouse, Linda, and granddaughter, Kristine Westbrooke of Colorado; and great grandchildren, Julia and Cameron Downes; Sarah, Thomas and Christopher Berg; Alexander Westbrooke, Logan Westbrooke and Zada and Kaizer Lile.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Aug. 20, 2016, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 116 Broadway, Rock Springs, Wy. Graveside Services and Inurnment were in the  Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
