Gwendolyn Dorothy "Lynn" Ernst

Gwendolyn Dorothy "Lynn" Ernst, 77, of Rock Springs, passed away Aug. 4, 2016 at her home, following a lengthy illness of COPD. 

Lynn was born Aug. 3, 1939 in Rock Springs, the daughter of Joseph and Eileen Martin. She attended schools in Reliance as well as in Rock Springs and was a 1957 graduate of Rock Springs High School. She also attended the University of Wyoming. Lynn married Edward Ernst, Sept. 6, 1959 and had three children, Trudy, Blake and Kathy. 

While living in Laramie, she was employed at the University of Wyoming as a medical transcriptionist for Student Health Services and also as a secretary at the UW College of Agriculture. She later moved to Denver and worked for many years as a medical transcriptionist for several medical offices and hospitals. In June of 2014, she moved back to Rock Springs to "come home."

While living in Laramie, she was active in PTA, Jobs Daughters and served as grand matron in the Order of Eastern Star. She loved the outdoors enjoying camping, fishing, rock hunting, gardening and took great joy in feeding the bunnies, squirrels and birds. She also enjoyed sewing and crafts. She loved music and had a beautiful singing voice.  

Survivors include one son, Blake Ernst and wife Emma of Fort Collins, Colo.; two daughters, Trudy Frederics and husband Ren of Lone Tree, Colo., and Kathy Hays and husband Greg of Aurora, Colo.; one brother, Edwin Martin and wife Jenny of Fort Morgan, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Brittany Ernst, Douglas Ernst, Carah Frederics, Kendall Frederics, Sarah Hays, Allyson Hays and Benjamin Hays. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Grovernor Martin.  

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Vase Funeral Chapels in Rock Springs. 

Interment will be at the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.  Friends may call on Saturday one hour prior to services.
