Honor choir to perform Saturday

The members of the Sweetwater Board of Cooperative Educational Service Children’s Honor Choir will present their spring concert at the Rock Springs Junior High School Saturday beginning at 7 p.m.

Under the direction of Wendy Compton and accompanied by Christy Lev, the choir will perform a variety of choral music. Included in the program is “Funga Alafia” (Song of Welcome), a traditional African Folk Song, arranged by Jill Gallina; “Come To the Music,” by Joseph M. Martin; “American Folk Rhapsody,” arranged by Linda Spevacek; “When I Close My Eyes,” by Jim Papoulis; “Swingin’ On A Star”, arranged by Greg Gilpin; “The Fox,” arranged by Kirk C. Aamot; and, “Old Dan Tucker,” arranged by John Leavitt.

Members of the SBOCES Children’s Honor Choir are Eva Asper, Skie Berg, Kindra Brown, Zoey Carrillo, Savannah Cheney, Noah Cowgill, Alyssa Feagler, Kenidee Fullmer, Tori Hester, Makayla Johnson, Megan Johnson, Avah Kellhofer, Shelby Koepplin, Helena McManus, Cassandra Morley, Riddic Nations, Kaitlyn Nelson, Elizabeth Nelson, Darla Patterson, Carter Pollastro, Hudson Poyer, Abby Smith, Maggie Smith, Deegon Smith and Gena Stewart.

Following the Friday performance, the choir will travel to Salt Lake City to perform three selections for adjudicators, parents and other choirs in the Trills and Thrills Regional Music Festival.

The choir ends its 2015-2016 season with fun at Lagoon in Farmington, Utah, before returning to Rock Springs.
