Luella Tremelling Horne

Luella Tremelling Horne passed away on March 13, 2016 at the Rocky Mount Care Nursing Home in Evanston.

Horne was born on April 20, 1920 the daughter of Harry Tremelling and Caroline (Johnston) Tremelling. The seventh of eight children in Almy on the Chesney Ranch. Her grandmother who was a midwife helped deliver Luella.

Mom's name was derived from the names Louise, which comes from Germany and Ella, from old French. This falls in line with her mother's heritage as she was French and German.

She married Andrew Darwin Horne on Sept. 3, 1939 in Randolph, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. To this union was born two daughters, Karon Lou and Ruth Anne.

She was born into a musical family. Her grandfather Temelling had an orchestra in his home and all of the children played musical instruments and sang. Because of her voice, she sang in musicals during her school days, sang in trios, solos, directed choirs, directed music in church, taught people to direct music in church, and taught people to sing.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had several church callings which included: primary and Sunday school teacher, relief society teacher and visiting teacher, stake missionary, participated in home extraction, and a special calling in the Ogden, Utah, temple. She was employed as an executive secretary at the Wyoming State Hospital and as a secretary for the Wyoming Credit Union. Horne also enrolled in college classes later on in her life.

Horne loved the gospel and loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great grandson. She loved to go camping in the mountains. Mom always said the fresh air in the mountains made her feel at peace.

She is survived by two daughters, Karon Lou (Gene) Hutchings and Ruth Anne (Richard S.) Farnsworth; four grandchildren, Saralu, Andrea, Nicole, and Rebecca; 11 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Horne was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Darwin Horne; a grandson, Richard Andrew Farnsworth; her parents and seven siblings, Isabel, Rebecca, Kenneth, Ruth, Clarence, Wilford, and Ramona.

Funeral service was conducted March 19 at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston.
