Swimmers take home meet

Team hosts 2nd home meet

With a little more than a month left in the season, the Green River High School boys swimming and diving team continue to work on speed and technique in the pool.

The boys hosted the Green River Invite during the weekend and took first in their home pool.

Green River scored 276 points, while second went to Lyman High School with 269 points and Rock Springs High School took third with 256 points.

Head coach Colleen Seiloff said she was happy with the boys’ performance during the weekend, saying many of the competitors are close to qualifying for state. So far, three swimmers and three divers have qualified to compete in Gillette Feb. 26 and 27.

The boys have another home meet scheduled for Tuesday evening, which will include Rock Springs and Riverton swimmers.

That weekend, they will travel to Gillette for one final meet before conference competition starts Feb. 12.

Seiloff said the meet in Gillette will include teams from Laramie and Cheyenne East high schools, which will give the Wolves a chance to see how they stack up to competition from the eastern side of the state.
