Antonina "Toni" Pallesen

Antonina "Toni" Pallesen, 89, of Green River passed away at her home Dec. 25, 2015.

She was born on April 2, 1926 in a town near Kiev, Ukraine, daughter of Dmitro and Domka Prozka; baptized Greek Orthodox. When the Germans invaded Ukraine, she was taken from her home at age 15 and placed in a work camp in Germany. There she met her future husband Delbert Pallesen of Manila, Utah. They were married in Augsburg, Germany on Oct. 12, 1946. Later they returned to the United States, at age 22.

Pallesen was known for her love of gardening, especially her raspberries and vegetables. She was an accomplished seamstress, made beautiful arts and crafts and was a fabulous cook.

Pallesen was a prominent voice in community and city politics, constantly defending citizen's rights and privileges. She always thought that the people of the United States, "take their right to vote lightly'.

Survivors include daughter Rose M. Moseby and son John D. Pallesen and wife Linda Acker, all of Rock Springs; granddaughter Cari Kragovich and husband Jim of Rock Springs; two great-grandchildren Jason and Jared Kragovich of Rock Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Delbert.

Cremation will take place. Memorial services will be held in the spring.
