Farmers' market baked goods sell fast

Gail Heikkinen, a volunteer with Golden Hour Senior Center, holds up a container of baked treats the center sold at the Green River Farmers' Market last week.

Each week this past summer, the Golden Hour Senior Center volunteers attended the Green River Farmers' Market.

While at the Farmers' Market, the volunteers sold numerous baked goods including, apple and cherry turnovers, root-beer float cookies, orange cookies, lemon Rice Krispie treats, banana bread, zucchini bread and cinnamon rolls.

"It was fantastic," GHSC's Activities Coordinator Megan Brown said. "We made about $5,800."

She said they made an average of $600 every week and had repeat customers.

On some days popular items sold before 4 p.m. Brown said they often had returning customers...
