Grace S. Field

Grace S. Field, 92, of Rock Springs, passed away Aug. 15, 2015 at the Mission at Castle Rock in Green River. She had been a lifelong resident of Rock Springs.

She was born on Nov. 24, 1922 in Rock Springs, the daughter of the late Ray Scott and Ola Evans Scott.

Field attended schools in Salt Lake City and Rock Springs.

She married Alfred "Bud" Schurman and he preceded her in death on March 24, 1961.  She later married George "Skinny" Field in Rock Springs on Dec. 21, 1965 and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2015.

She was the owner and operator of the Capital Bar for 25 years.

Her interests included camping, fishing and ceramics.  She also enjoyed macrame and listening to audio books.

Survivors include four daughters, Gail Fortuna of Rock Springs, Gladys Arnett of Oshkosh, Neb., Bonnie Hanks of Green River, and Betty Newman of Bouse, Ariz .; two step-daughters, Lois Field of Cedar City, Utah and Lynn Montgomery of Kamiah, Idaho; two step-sons, Paul Field of Veyo, Utah and John Field of Tujunga, Calif .; 30 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband George "Skinny" Field; one son John Schurman; one daughter, Donna Fleming; son-in-law Joseph Fortuna; a grandson Jay Fortuna; two sisters; six brothers; one step-son, Gary Field; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the L.D.S. Stake Center, 2055 Edgar Street, Rock Springs. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. 

Friends may call on Friday from 4-6 p.m. at Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs, and on Saturday morning at the church, one hour prior to services.
