Harry B. Pappas

Harry B. Pappas, 88, of Green River, passed away June 23, 2015 at the Mission at Castle Rock in Green River.

He had been a longtime resident of Green River.

He was born on Nov. 22, 1926 in Rock Springs, the son of the late Louis Pappas and Bella Xaniphon Pappas.

Pappas attended schools in Rock Springs.

He was a United States Marine Veteran of World War II and Wyoming National Guard.

He married the former Sophia Curtis in Rock Springs on July 15, 1950 and she preceded him in death on Jan. 26, 2003.

Pappas was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad.

He later was employed by the Green River Police Department and Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office and had worked in law enforcement for a total of 38 years.  

He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.

His interests included spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include one son, Scott Pappas and wife Olympia of Littleton, Colo .; one daughter, Vaslie Leventis and husband Chris of Green River; one sister, Thearo Kostakis of Apple Valley, Calif .; four grandchildren, Christopher Leventis and wife Ivana of Jackson, Nicholas Leventis of Cheyenne, Andrew Pappas and Sofia Pappas both of Littleton, Colo .; sister-in-law Teddy Dolas and husband John of Long Beach, Calif .; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one sister Mary Pauline.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 405 N Street in Rock Springs.

Father John Cusulos will officiate. The Trisagion will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel at 263 East Flaming Gorge Way in Green River. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel on Thursday one hour prior to the Trisagion and on Friday, one hour prior to funeral services at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel.
