Aaron "Swede" Zuehlsdorff

Aaron "Swede" Zuehlsdorff, 86, of Rock Springs passed away March 1, 2015 at Highland Care Center in Salt Lake City. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Powder Wash, Colo., Zuehlsdorff died following a brief illness.

He was born on Jan. 10, 1929 in Hawley, Minn., the son of John H. Zuehlsdorff and Mabele Krombeck.

Zuehlsdorff attended schools in Hawley, Minn. and Broadus, Mont.

He married Mildred M. "Millie" Toly on Dec. 7, 1948.  They were married 64 years.

Zuehlsdorff was employed by Mountain Fuel Supply Company for 42 years and retired as general manager.

He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Community, Rock Springs Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, Questarians.

He enjoyed playing poker, reading western novels, history, collecting hats, and most important spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred "Millie" Zuehlsdorff of Rock Springs; two sons, Byron Zuehlsdorff and wife Traci of Rock Springs and DuWayne Zuehlsdorff and wife Cynthia of Longmont, Colo.; four brothers, Noel Zuehlsdorff of Anacortes, Wash., Roger Zuehlsdorff of Colstrip, Mont., Arlen Zuehlsdorff and wife Wanda of Billings, Mont., Dwight Zuehlsdorff and wife Helen of Fort Smith, Ark.; two sister,s Velma Wittman of  Federal Way, Wash.,  and Leith Simonson of Sturgis, S.D.; five grandchildren, Kelly Zuehlsdorff of Seattle, Laurie Zuehlsdorff of Durango, Colo., Dotti Gramke and husband Troy of Upland, Neb., Tom Zuehlsdorff of Rock Springs, Charla Welch and husband Jason of Vinenza, Italy; four great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dielda Barthomay and Jewel Richards and one brother, John Zuehlsdorff.

Services took place Wednesday morning.
