Bill L. Cummings

Bill L. Cummings, 79, of Rock Springs passed away Jan. 25 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. A longtime resident of Rock Springs, Cummings past away following several years of ill health.

He was born in Erie, Colo. on Feb. 2, 1935, the son of the late James Vincent Cummings and Ann Krpan.

Cummings attended schools in Rock Springs and Reliance. He graduated from Reliance High School with the class of 1954.  He also attended the University of Wyoming and received a doctorate in radiology and also attended the University of Utah.

He married Marlene Moon in Rock Springs on June 23, 1957.

Cummings was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community.

He worked as a radiologist for Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County for 20 years.

He also drove a truck for Wycoff and worked for Dr. Joe Oliver, and the Sweetwater County Sheriff's office as a jail guard. Cummings worked with nuclear medicine and did lab work.

Survivors include his wife Marlene Cummings of Rock Springs; six daughters, Maureen Holden and husband Lonnie of Rock Springs, Peggy Morton and husband Guy of Rock Springs, Shannon Scott and husband Doug of Denver, Coleen Story and companion Jerry Macy of Rock Springs, Shelley Cummings of Phoenix and Eileen Cummings of Rock Springs; one sister, Joanne Lescoe and husband Proctor of Flagstaff, Ariz .; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded  in death by his parents and sister in infancy, Pauline.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday at the Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church at 633 Bridger Avenue in Rock Springs ,.  A rosary with vigil will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday, at the church. Interment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the Rosary and again one hour prior to services on Friday.

Pallbearers:  Lonnie Holden, Jason Lee, Cody Holden, Kirk Story, L.J. Story, Troy Maxwell, Kyle McGovern and Andy Bereece.

Honorary Pallbearers:  Proctor Lescoe, Joe Morton, Brandon Story, Guy Morton, Matt Bereece, Troy Petersen, Awston Holden, Doug Scott and John Starkovich.
