NOWCAP services seeking nominations for awards


NOWCAP Services is seeking nominations for the upcoming Mayor’s Leadership Awards.

The Mayor’s Leadership Awards is an annual event celebrating Disability Employment Awareness, taking place March 4. The event is organized by NOWCAP Services, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for people with disabilities, and hosted by Rock Springs Mayor Carl Demshar and Green River Mayor Pete Rust.

During the event, employees with disabilities, the organizations, individuals and businesses that support them are awarded for their efforts. This year, awards will be given in four categories:

Community Champion of the Year: This award is for an individual whose leadership has provided opportunities to individuals with a disability that has helped increase their levels of independence in the areas of employment, self-sufficiency, advocacy and inclusion. 

Employee of the Year: This award is for an individual 21 years of age or older who has overcome his or her disability and become a person who has contributed to the success of a business.

Business Champion of the Year: This award is for a business that has provided employment opportunities and championed for the rights of individuals with disabilities.

Youth Champion of the Year: This award is for an individual under the age of 21 who has overcome a disability and has made the difference in the lives of others, or to an individual who has made a difference in the lives of others with a disability.

Nomination forms are available at the Rock Springs and Green River Chambers and at The deadline for nominations is Feb. 22 and should be submitted to Heidi Lloyd at or at NOWCAP Services, located at 416 W. Blair Ave. in Rock Springs. Award winners will be honored at a breakfast event March 4 at 8 a.m. at the Sweetwater Events Complex.
