Stephen Royal Griffin

Stephen Royal Griffin, 56, passed away Dec. 26 at the McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah following a sudden illness. He had been a resident of Ogden, Utah for the past three years and former resident of Rock Springs.

He was born in Farmington, N.M. on June 12, 1958, the son of Dickie Royal Griffin and Claudia Jean Shaw.

Griffin attended schools in New Mexico and Oklahoma.

He married Laurie Guffey on June 17, 1989 and they were married for 23 years, but later divorced.

Griffin worked in retail sales for Rocky Mountain Transit and Laser for two years. He also was the owner/operator of Mountain Mapping and Supply, Golden Key Storage and  partner in Trailhead Guns.

Survivors include his parents Dick and Claudia Griffin of Madill, Okla.; three sons, Cory D. Griffin and partner Cayla Fielder of Dallas, Texas, Shannon D. Guffey and wife Jennifer of Rock Springs, and Colby R. Griffin of Rock Springs; one sister, Tracy Edgmon of Lantana, Texas; two granddaughters, Ashlynn and Autumn Guffey of Rock Springs and companion and friend, Dana Jones of Ogden, Utah.

He was preceded in death by brother Robert Griffin; sister Stephanie Griffin; uncle Danny Griffin; grandparents Claude and Vera Shaw and Glen and Doris Straughn and Dick "Chief/Pud" Griffin.

Cremation has taken place and services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Jan. 3 at the Evangelical Free Church on 125 Firestone Road in Rock Springs. 

Pastor Michael Maynard will conduct the services. Friends may call one hour prior to services. The family of Stephen Royal Griffin respectfully request that donations be made in his memory to Cowboys Against Cancer.
