Jose Elmer Cordova

Jose Elmer Cordova, 78, of Green River passed away Oct. 18 at the McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. He had been a longtime resident of Green River.

Cordova was born on May 3, 1936 in Chamical, N.M., the son of the late Benjamin and Longina Mary Cordova.

He attended schools in Green River.

Cordova was employed at Union Pacific Railroad for 36 years as a truck driver and retired June 1, 1997. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of the Eagles #2350.

Survivors include one son, Rick Cordova of Rock Springs; two daughters, Debbie Ridenour and Sharon Sanchez both of N.M .; one brother, Wilfred Cordova of Green River; one sister, Felica of Green River; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ben Cordova; three sisters, Vickie Gardea, Eliza Rodriguez and Orlinda Patino; one granddaughter. Erica Cordova.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Green River. A vigil service with rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.on Oct. 27 at the church. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 4 p.m. until time of rosary and Oct. 28, at the church until time of services.
