"Ursus" is Green River's newest art installation

The Green River Arts Council recently unveiled and placed the most recent addition to the many sculptures and art installations throughout the city.

"Ursus" is the name of this sculpture by Jeff Rudolph from Cody, Wyoming. The sculpture was bought by the Green River Arts Council and the City of Green River for display and amusement of the people of Green River and visitors alike.

"Ursus" was originally cast by Rudolph as part of a fundraising campaign for the Park County Library Foundation in 2008. Rudolph was selected to create the original bear, from which all future castings for the campaign were made.

The "Gathering of Grizzlies" fundraiser netted more than $180,000 for the youth sections of the Park County, Wyoming libraries.

Ursus can be viewed near the entrance to Expedition Island. More information about "The Gathering of Grizzlies" can be found on grizgathering.blogspot.com.
