The GFWC Women's Club of Sweetwater County met on September 19. The meeting was held at White Mountain Library. The board members provided a taco/nacho bar for lunch. There wasn't a speaker as there was a lot of catching up to do after three months off from general meetings.

We awarded grants to four Western Wyoming Community College students prior to the meeting. The winners are Dahlia Jordon working on Nursing, Emma Curtis working on Business Management, Delaney Gardea also working on Nursing, and Evin Hansen going into Mechanical Engineering. Congratulations and best of luck to all.

The members voted to donate $500 to Nutritional services with Sweetwater School District #1 to help pay for meals of children who are unable to pay for their lunches. This check was delivered directly following the meeting to Angela Erramouspe, head of Nutritional Services.

We were happy to announce our holiday house for 2023. Carmen and Randy Lakey, owners of CTS, are sharing their beautiful home at 518 Deer Creek in Rock Springs with us this year for the Holiday House Fundraiser Event which occurs on December 1 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and December 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Our raffle drawing will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. We will have many exciting raffle items again this year. Carmen has chosen Alzheimer Awareness as her charity for 10% of the raffle proceeds to be donated to. Tickets will be available from members beginning November 1 at a cost of $5 each or 6 for $20. They will be sold at the event as well. We will be working hard on crafts and planning our baked goods to have for sale. Children under 12 will be admitted for free others $5 per person. The hostess is planning on having light refreshments and making a gift bag for everyone who attends.

We are offering the community a great opportunity to listen to speakers who can share with us how to experience and learn about the outdoors of Wyoming. Presenters for this evening event will be from Wyoming Game and Fish and Wyoming State Parks as well as others. We will tell you about scholarships and sponsorships available through our club to participate in outdoor experiences. This fun informative event will be October 5 at 6 p.m. in the Ferrero Room at the Downtown Rock Springs Library. Light refreshments will be served. We are hoping many in the community will take advantage of this opportunity.

Our Environmental chair has set up October 14 at 9 a.m. for trash pick-up at our adopt a highway section at exit 107.

We will be collecting non-perishable food at several locations including Larry's Hair Salon, the Mane Place, Joe's Liquor, Downtown Library, White Mountain Library, Sweetwater Library in Green River, and Rocky Mountain Physical Therapy. The food will be collected on September 27 and given to the Soup Kitchen in Rock Springs on September 28. This is for General Federation of Women's Clubs Day of service. Clubs across the country will by fighting to end food insecurity in many ways.

We will be doing comfort bags for the Green River Police Department again. These will be given to the therapist and the police officers and given to young people in stressful situations.

Our Chairman for Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention encouraged us to participate in a 5k walk-run for Domestic Violence Awareness Month scheduled on October 14 starting at Young at Heart at dusk.

Some members will be attending a state fall workshop for GFWCWyoming in Riverton on September 30. We will be taking some food there as well for fighting food insecurity.
