GRHS Wolf signs to become a Cougar

A Green River Wolf will soon become a Concordia Cougar as he pursues his football career.

Green River High School football player Jeremiah Salmo recently signed his letter of intent to play for Concordia University Chicago in River Forest, Illinois.

"I'm honestly beyond excited," Salmo said of his decision to play for Concordia. "I'm a little nervous. But I've been waiting for this day for a long time, and I'm just so grateful that it's finally come."

As he decided where to attend college, looked into offers, and went on location to inspect facilities, Salmo noticed the private university as a clear standout.

"Concordia really made it easy for me because every single one of their coaches reached out to me," Salmo explained. "I love their facilities, and honestly it's the big change that I've been looking for in my life."

Concordia Chicago's athletic program is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division III.

When it comes to continuing his career as a middle linebacker, Salmo is excited to see even more action.

"I just love contact," he admitted. "I love tackling people. I think I was kind of born for it. And honestly, I'm really good at it."

Salmo remembered one of his first varsity games against Lander, when he put his head down, "ran straight to the hole," and ended up making a big play to start his high school career.

He also will always appreciate the time he spent as a Wolf.

"I love the community," he said, noting that he's never felt left out but has always felt like a part of the community. "Everybody supports everybody."
