Local swimmer continues her swimming career at OCU

Hailey Uhrig is a Green River High School graduate with the class of 2022. Uhrig swam on Green River's Swimming and Diving team all four years of high school, receiving All-State honors every year she swam. In her senior year, she earned two All-State honors, placing first with her relay team in the 200 Yard Medley Relay and placing second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. She still holds the school record for Green River in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.

Uhrig is now attending Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, Oklahoma, were she is majoring in Exercise Science. She has continued swimming, now for Oklahoma Christian University, and she competed at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in Grand Junction, Colorado, making it into four finals. In her individual events, she placed fifth in the 100 Breaststroke, breaking the school record, and seventh in the 200 Breaststroke. Her 200 Medley Relay team received silver and bronze in the 400 Medley Relay, breaking both school records. Uhrig also broke the school record in the 50 Yard Breaststroke earlier in the season. The Oklahoma Christian University swimming team was selected as a Scholar All-American Team.

Uhrig has enjoyed her experience in Oklahoma, making great friends and memories. She has learned so much from her head coach Josh Davis, who is a two-time Olympian. She plans to stay in Oklahoma for the summer and return to Oklahoma Christian University in the fall to continue her swimming career.
