Boys basketball coming up short

The Green River Wolves Boys basketball team played the Star Valley Braves on Saturday. The Wolves kept up the first half of the game, making some good plays. Coming into the second half of the game, the boys were very flat. This led the team to an unfortunate three-to-four-minute hole where the Braves had a 13-0 run and Green River couldn't recover. The Wolves lost the game with the final score of 60-70.

Although the game didn't lean in their favor, "the boys played some of their best basketball of the season," according to Head Coach Laurie Ivie.

The top scorers for the game against the Braves were Caleb Lake with 17 points and Theran Archibald with 16 points. Lake had four rebounds and Archilbald had three rebounds, along with Kason Ivie with five assists. All the boys are working very hard and definitely putting in the work for their team.

The Green River boys are ranked eighth in team scoring in the state, 12th in shooting, 14th in rebounding and 15th in defense. Their team record is 0-3 in the West Conference and 2-10 overall.

The Wolves are going to continue focusing on rebounding and defense. They are determined to get more stops and boards and to win some games.

This week is very big for the Wolves as they are playing the Rock Springs Tigers today at 7:30 p.m. and the Kelly Walsh Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

"We always look forward to rivalry week, and we are looking forward to playing both of these teams on our home court," explained Coach Ivie.
