Green River Police Department reports for April 27

At 9:50 a.m., officers responded to a report of a student in possession of a vaping device at Green River High School. Officers met with school administration, the student, a parent or guardian and subsequently issued the juvenile, 14, a citation for alleged use or possession of tobacco by a minor - second offense. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 11:04 a.m., officers responded to a report of a three-vehicle collision at Green River High School. It was reported three vehicles were traveling east in the driveway into the parking area when the first vehicle collided with the rear of the second vehicle, which caused the second vehicle to collide with the rear of the third vehicle. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 1:32 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit and run at Monroe Elementary School. Officers met with an individual who reported finding damage to their vehicle. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 3:43 p.m., officers responded to a report of an individual with an active arrest and hold order at the Probation and Parole office. Officers met with an individual, received a copy of the arrest and hold order, placed Daryl Valerio, of Green River, under arrest and transported Valeris to the Sweetwater County Detention Center. Officers completed a report of the incident.

April 28

At 5:13 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver, Mayra Steffen, of Green River, a citation for alleged failure to provide proof of liability insurance.

April 29

At 8:14 a.m., officers responded to a report of a student with a tobacco product at Green River High School. Officers met with school administration, the juvenile and their parent or guardian, gathered information, and subsequently issued a citation for alleged use or possession of tobacco by a minor. Officers completed a report of the incident.

April 30

At 12:05 p.m., officers responded to a report of a violation of a trespass order on McKinley Street. Officers met with the individuals involved, gathered information, and at the request of the victim issued a verbal warning to the individual for trespassing. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 1:54 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on E 4th S Street and issued the driver, Stanley Smith, of Rock Springs, a citation for alleged speeding.

At 2:25 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Astle Avenue and issued the driver, Helen Moeaki, of Green River, a citation for alleged speeding.

At 5:13 p.m., officers responded to a report of illegal dumping on Telephone Canyon Road. Officers met with an individual who reported finding trash that had been dumped and scattered all over the ground. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 6:52 p.m., officers responded to a report of a dog attacking another dog at Expedition Island. Officers met with individuals who reported they had been walking their dog on the walking path when a large German Shepherd ran towards them and immediately started attacking their dog. The owner of the Shepherd was able to pull the dog away. Officers met with the owner of the Shepherd who reported they had been walking their dog on a leash when the dog pulled away. Officers subsequently issued the owner of the dog, Richard Osborn, of Green River, a citation for alleged animal at large and completed a report of the incident. Minor injuries to the dog were reported.

At 10:44 p.m., officers responded to a report of a citizen assist on Iowa Avenue. Officers met with an individual who reported concerns over civil issues. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

May 1

At 2:31 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with the individuals involved in a dispute, the parties were separated and officers completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 5:14 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit and run collision at McDonald’s. Officers met with an individual who reported their vehicle had been hit while picking up a delivery in the parking lot, then the vehicle just left. Officers gathered information and attempted to locate the vehicle. Report to follow.

At 8:10. p.m., officers responded to a report of a citizen assist on Wilkes Drive. Officers met with an individual who had civil questions regarding a vehicle that they were in the process of buying. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

May 2

At 1:09 a.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance at an Upland Way unit. Officers attempted to make contact at the residence, and completed a report of the incident.
