The Green River High School swimming team continues improving times in the pool, with one swimmer punching his ticket to the state meet and others qualifying in additional events.
The Wolves traveled to the eastern side of the state to compete at Cheyenne Central Friday, then traveled to Laramie Saturday for competition with the Plainsmen. Team scores were not available for the dual at Central. The Wolves took ninth in Laramie, scoring 56 points.
Head coach Colleen Seiloff said the team swam well on Friday, with a number of swimmers hitting their best times in events. Aiden Zimmerman qualified for state in the 200-meter individual medley while Cole Gilmore and Colin Gilmore added to the events they can compete at state in.
“We’re starting to get kids in multiple events,” Seiloff said.
While times are being cut, Seiloff said the team still contends with injuries and illness, which has impacted the Wolves’ performance as a whole.
Despite this, she said the boys continue seeking improvement at practice and in competition.
“We’re just trying be the best we can,” she said.
