The Actors’ Mission has recently received donations from the Rocky Mountain Power Foundation and the Thomas and Mary Kourbelas Trust, which will support the organization’s plans to build a blackbox theater in downtown Rock Springs.
As work on renovating the Actors’ Mission building and constructing the theatre continues, these funds are being used for a project that adds stronger beams to the flooring in order to provide the needed support for the seating and stage on the main floor.
“Fundraising had to slow down and building materials have gone up as a result of the pandemic,” said Actors’ Mission Board President Rick Cozad. “Community friends and donors have been important factors in the formation and growth of the Actors’ Mission.”
Rocky Mountain Power Foundation awarded the Actors’ Mission a gift of $5,000 last week. The organization has been a contributor to the Actors’ Mission building project in since its beginnings in 2016.
“Rocky Mountain Power is pleased to support these hardworking volunteers in
their efforts to build a community theatre for Sweetwater County,” Ron Wild, Rocky Mountain Power Regional Business Manager, said in a press release.
Funded in 1988 by Pacific Power, the Rocky Mountain Power Foundation is one of the largest utility-endowed foundations in the United States. Its mission, through charitable investments, is to support the growth and vitality of the communities served by Rocky Mountain Power and Pacific Power.
The Actors’ Mission also received $5,000 from the Thomas and Mary Kourbelas Trust earlier in December.
This fund was created by two benefactors who loved their community in life and who, in their passing, continue to give love and support to many organizations.
