Swimmers' success continues

The girls swim season is coming to an end in a few short weeks and the Green River High School team continues to be a strong team within the region.

The girls competed at home over the weekend with two quad meets, hosting Worland, Rawlins and Cody Friday evening and Worland, Sublette County and Rawlins Saturday morning. The Wolves came out on top both days. Head coach Colleen Seiloff said the Lady Wolves had a standout weekend featuring several accomplishments for swimmers. The pool record was broken in the 100- yard backstroke by Lauren Jensen Friday, finishing with a time of 59.80. Zella Maes set a new personal best record in diving as well, earning 313.75 points during the Saturday competition. The team has 17 qualifiers for the State swim meet, with Seiloff saying a few more are close to reaching qualifying times. Kaylee Peterson qualified for the 500-yard freestyle after taking sixth in the event Friday with a time of 6:26.94, While Chezni Rubeck qualified in the 100-yard freestyle the same day, finishing seventh with a time of 1:03.90.

Seiloff said the team continues to work hard and are swimming tired, but as a group they're performing at a lever she expects from them this late in the season. She said some swimmers, like freshman Mikayla Green, continue to cut their times significantly each time they swim while others like Lilly Munoz and Hailey Uhrig continue to be strong in their events. However, they still have time before their final meet.

"We've got a few more weeks to work hard," she said.

The Lady Wolves will have their chance to qualify more swimmers at the conference meet this weekend.

The girls will compete in Pinedale.
