County concert association hosts Wendy Woo

The Sweetwater County Concert Association is presenting Wendy Woo as their next featured artist.

Woo’s concert will be an extra performance outside of the concert series presented by the association for the season.

Woo is a Colorado artist who has penned and recorded over 200 original songs and played over 150 dates annually. Woo’s energy, musical skills, and spirited songwriting have made her a media and fan favorite. An example of her proceeding reputation is her invite to legendary Carly Simon’s “Festival of the Senses” on Martha’s Vineyard in 2014 .

Woo has shared the stage with many popular bands including The Fray, Counting Crows and the Monsters. She has also been on stage with solo artists such as Brad Paisley, Sarah McLachlan and James Taylor. She has performed in several well known venues like Red Rocks in Colorado, the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles and the Bitter End in New York.

Woo has also been named Westword Magazine’s Music Awards “Singer/Songwiter of the year” five separate times, resulting in her addition into Westword’s Hall of Fame.

Woo juggles performing, the music business and relationships all while being a mother to her three children.

A documentary about her live was made by Ferrari Films. The documentary is titled “Unshaken: the Road to Woo”. The film traces her musical history from learning to play a few chords of Paul McCartney’s “Blackbird”, to working and playing at Boulder’s famed Fox Theatre and much more.  

The Sweetwater County Concert Association couldn’t be more excited to work with Woo. The concert will take place Sept. 11, at the Broadway Theater in Rock Springs.

Tickets for non members will cost $10.Tickets will be available at Rock Springs and Green River Chamber of Commerce, the Main Street URL office and at the door the night of the concert.

The associations mission is to bring the best live and professional entertainments to the residents of Sweetwater County. SCCA is a non-profit organization that not only bring in entertainment to the county but also sponsors a local sponsorship program that provides music-related needs to students. The association also promotes music education with Sweetwater BOCES.
