Schoenfeld seeks full term as county commissioner

After being appointed to the Sweetwater County Board of County Commissioners last July, Lauren Schoenfeld seeks election to the board.

Schoenfeld has been working with the other commissioners to ensure Sweetwater County is in the best possible position during this very difficult time.

“I have jumped at every opportunity to push for strong and diverse economic development, sound and fiscally conservative decisions, and a community that collaborates to be strong and viable,” Schoenfeld said in a press release.

Schoenfeld believes that if the county is to be a strong, resilient and diverse community, it needs leaders who will work together to find solutions to the challenges the community faces.

“I am truly Sweetwater County grown,” Schoenfeld said in a press release, “My youth in Farson gave me a great understanding of what rural Wyoming has to offer.”

Schoenfeld also stated that her career experiences have given her a strong sense leadership, budgeting skills and criminal justice system experience, all of which give her a fresh perspective.

Schoenfeld volunteers as the chairperson for Wyoming State Broadband Council and is also part of the Southwest Wyoming Mining and Manufacturing Executive Leadership Team, Wyoming Community Foundation, the Sweetwater County Economic Development Coalition and the Sweetwater County Republican Party.

“I am deeply connected throughout our community and state and I am not afraid to dig in and get my hands dirty” Schoenfeld said.

Schoenfeld’s main goals are to support the current industries throughout the county as well as develop and diversify new opportunities and to continue with strategic and long-term planning for Sweetwater County. Schoenfeld hopes to take county planning and development to what she believes will be a whole new level. Schoenfeld believes Sweetwater County is unique because of the incredible innovation, dedication and perseverance of its residents. She also believes herself to be lucky to call the county her home and to have access to outdoor activities and the wide spaces provided by county lands.

“I look forward to continuing to work alongside Sweetwater County residents and rolling up my sleeves to take on the projects that matter most, based on our unique needs in southwest Wyoming.”
