Basketball teams head to State

Both Green River High School basketball teams are headed to state.

Following successful appearances at the Regional tournament in Evanston over the weekend, they will travel to Casper for one last tournament. The girls will play Cheyenne Central at 9 a.m. while the boys will take on Thunder Basin at 1:30 p.m.

At Regionals, The girls won their first appearance, defeating Cody 58-42. The Lady Wolves then took a narrow loss to the Rock Springs lady Tigers in a game that ended 60-51. The Lady Wolves were able to pull away from their loss and won their next two games. They defeated Riverton 57-40 in their first game Saturday, then ended the day on a high note with a second win over Star Valley 52-36.

The boys also lost to Rock Springs, in a game ending 57-52 for the Tigers.

The boys ended up playing and beating Riverton 55-53. The Wolves then took on Cody and earned a decisive 74-61 win. Their last game against Evanston ended in a 48-27 loss for the Wolves.
