Otto-Horn competes at Mountain West championships

Green River swimmer Avery Otto-Horn tied for fifth while competing at the Mountain West Long Course Trials in Minneapolis.

Otto-Horn, a sophomore at the University of Wyoming, finished fifth in the 50 long course freestyle, finishing with a time of 27.57. She tied with fellow Cowgirl Kiana Junior, a senior at the university. A third Cowgirl, Sophomore Molly Green, took eighth at 28.30.

During the 2020 Mountain West Championships, Otto-Horn swam in the 200 medley with teammates Green, Junior and Andrea Niemann, finishing with a time of 1:43.41, 2 seconds behind the Cowgirl’s main team in the event. During the second day of competition, Otto-Horn finished the 100 fly in a career-best time of 55.53, followed by fellow sophomore Kira Crane touching the wall in 56.22. She later swam the 100 freestyle, finishing with a time of 52.59.
