Heiser to play basketball at Sheridan College

A passion for basketball has turned into an opportunity to play college basketball for one Green River student.

Madelyn Heiser, a Green River High School senior, recently signed her letter of intent with Sheridan College to play basketball for them next year.

Heiser started playing basketball in the third grade.

"My brother played basketball and I wanted to be just like him, so my dad started a basketball team," Heiser said.

Even though it has been a long time, Heiser can still remember her first basketball game.

The ending score was 2-2.

"I instantly fell in love with the game though," she said.

Heiser also plays volleyball and is a member of the National Honor Society.

The decision to attend Sheridan College was something Heiser is comfortable with.

"It felt right. The coach is someone who wants the best for me and will help me improve," she said.

Combined with her Hathaway scholarship, Heiser said she will have a full ride.

For Heiser, playing college basketball will help her accomplish one of her goals.

While at college, Heiser intends to pursue a degree in biology or nursing.
