Swimmers take 1st at home meet

The Lady Wolves swim team took advantage of swimming at their home pool and came out on top of eight other teams attending their meet.

On Friday and Saturday, the Green River High School Lady Wolves Swim team competed at home and took first with a score of 312 points. Rock Springs took second with 205 points and Sheridan came in third with 174 points.

Head coach Colleen Seiloff said they picked up three more state qualifiers this weekend, taking the team's total to 10 already in the season.

She said sophomore Hailey Uhrig broke the pool record in the 100-yard breaststroke twice this weekend. First she broke the record on Friday and then on Saturday's swim meet she broke it again.

She also noticed the swimmers who came to the team with little experience improved their times quite a bit.

"Across the board, the girls were looking stronger than last week," Seiloff said. "I was just impressed with the way they all looked."

As for the more experienced players, Seiloff didn't notice much of a change.

"I think they are swimming where I expected," Seiloff said.

Seiloff did notice how the swimmers who continued training in the summer improved even more.

As for the health of the team, a few of the Lady Wolves are already battling various illnesses. Seiloff said the goal for this week is to keep working hard and try and get those girls feeling better.

"We're just going two continue working and getting healthier," Uhrig said.

The Lady Wolves will travel to Laramie and Cheyenne to compete in the duals.
