Wolves tennis starts in Jackson

While the school year started Wednesday, the Green River High School tennis team already competed before the first day of the school year.

The Wolves traveled to Jackson Saturday. The girls swept the Jackson squad, led by a win by Gabrielle Heiser in the Singles No.1 division. The boys dropped three of their five games, with Caeden Grubb winning in Singles No. 1. The team of Braxton Cordova and Zach Friel won in Doubles No. 3.

Girls results

Singles No. 1: Gabrielle Heiser defeated Hyla Chatham in two sets: 6-4 and 7-6(7-2).

Singles No. 2: Megan Counts defeated Anna Revill in two sets: 6-3 and 6-3.

Doubles No. 1: Morgan Atkins and Rory Ratliff defeated Sam Fairbanks and Megan Tucker in two sets: 6-3 and 6-2.

Doubles No. 2: Sydney Beutel and Alicia Harrison defeated Abbi Daugherty and Tashi Ferris in two sets: 6-2 and 6-0.

Doubles No. 3: Shelbee McFadden and Kaylee Carson won via forfeit.

Boys results

Singles No.1: Caeden Grubb defeated Jackson Santomauro in two sets: 6-0 and 6-3.

Singles No. 2: Connor Friel was defeated by Steven Ashurst in three sets: 7-6(7-5), 4-6 and 4-6.

Doubles No. 1: Jon Ty Leininger and Elliot Potter were defeated by Campbell Gervais and George Gervais in two sets, 2-6 and 5-7.

Doubles No. 2: Camden Nelson and Domenick Kunkle were defeated by Chris Rosen and Oliver Jost in two sets, 2-6 and 2-6.

Doubles No. 3: Braxton Cordova and Zach Friel defeated Adam Olson and Will Aepli in two sets, 6-2 and 6-2.
