Company donates emergency bags

A local trona company's donation will help seniors in an emergency situation.

Recently, Tata Chemicals Partners teamed up with Golden Hour Senior Center to provide 175 qualified seniors with supplies in case of emergency.

The bags will provide the senior with a sense of safety and security should an emergency situation arise.

The bag includes a five-day supply of food, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and water. Emergency preparedness items such as water purification tablets, flashlight, whistle, matches, Mylar blanket, emergency poncho, dust mask, portable stove, stainless steel cup and more are also included, Irish Kreis, GHSC activities and marketing coordinator, said.

"Having partners like Tata Chemicals gives us with the ability to provide services above and beyond what our grant monies cover," she said. "A project like this, could have never become a reality without this impactful community partnership."

The center's home-delivered meal recipients will be the first to receive the bags.

The other 105 bags that will be donated to those who meet the criteria laid out by the State of Wyoming can pick them up between July 23-27. Kreis said a list of those who will receive the bags was mailed out today and seniors who receive the letter will know they can pick one up.

"We had collaborated as a team to choose a project that will fill the biggest need and we chose the emergency bags," Kreis said.

"Later we received information from the state of Wyoming that we are required to provide emergency meals to our home delivered meal patrons, so we were already ahead of the game."
