Candidate filing continues

As filing continues for local and state offices, a number of races have developed for Green River City Council and Sweetwater County Commissioner. The election filing period ends June 1.

Green River

In political campaigns for the Green River City Council, Mayor Pete Rust is the only person running unopposed. Ed Paisley has filed to run against incumbent Gary Killpack for his position on the council representing Ward III. No additional filings have been made for the Ward I or Ward II Council positions.

Sweetwater County

Two Democrats have filed to run for Sweetwater County Commissioner. Incumbent Reid West and Rock Springs resident Joe Barbuto join Republicans John Kolb and Randy Wendling in competing for the three spots up for election. Outside of Sweetwater County Assessor and Sweetwater County Clerk, county officials remain unchallenged in their re-election bids.

Legislative races

John Hastert has filed for re-election as a Democrat in Senate District 13.

Stan Blake and John Freeman remain unchallenged in their re-election bids. Nothing has changed in the Rock Springs districts; Republican Clark Stith remains unopposed in House District 48 and no additional candidates have filed in House District 17.
