New chamber director hired

This time the new Chamber CEO’s position was filled by someone who was already working at the Green River Chamber of Commerce.

Lisa Herrera, was announced as the new Chamber CEO, which is effective immediately, according to a press release stated.

“Lisa has stepped up a multitude of times as the interim CEO,” Chamber board chairman Angela Shutran said. “We felt she was the best pick for us.”

Shutran said Herrera not only acted as the interim CEO after Rebecca Briesmaster resigned, but she acted as the interim CEO after Irene Parsons was terminated from the CEO position.

It was during this time that Herrera played a pivotal role in maintaining the day-to-day operations of the Chamber, the release states.

The press release states Herrera has worked for the Chamber for the past four years as the Chamber’s finance manager and will bring her experience, event planning and membership-management knowledge to the leadership role.

The selection committee was impressed with her passion for Green River and the community. Her promotion was the end of a rigorous review of other qualified applicants, the release states.

“I thought it was a great search,” Shutran said.

The board believes Herrera will add energy and talent to the position, which will give the Chamber momentum it needs to serve Green River and the community, the release states.

“I think the board is just thrilled to have Lisa,” Shutran said.

One of Herrera’s first tasks will be to hire someone to replace her as the finance manager. She’ll also have to work closely with the new marketing director.

Shutran said Herrera has roots in Green River because she is a third generation Green River resident.

“She definitely has the heart of Green River,” Shutran said.

The Chamber board of directors and the Hole in the Wall Gang are going to welcome Herrera to her new position at a Chamber mixer March 23, at 6 p.m.

Beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be served. The public is welcome to attend the mixer and meet or reintroduce themselves to Herrera.
