Sharla Dawnette Gilmore

Sharla Dawnette Gilmore, 59, passed away Feb. 17, 2018, at Hope West Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, Colo. She was a resident of Fruita, Colo., for the past four years and former resident of Green River. She died following a lengthy illness.

Dawnette was born Dec. 8, 1958, in Price, Utah, the daughter of Donald Carey Winters and Jolene Scovill.  She attended schools in Green River, Utah and Moab, Utah.

She married Houston John Lunsford Gilmore in Green River Jan. 19, 1979.

Their union was later solemnized in the Manti temple.

Survivors include her mother Jolene Dalton of Green River, Utah; one son, Chris Gilmore and wife Stephani of Green River; two daughters, Stephanie Galand and husband Stephane of Grand Junction, Colo., and Kari Merrick and husband Robert of Evanston; one sister, Pam Marsing of Moab, Utah; seven grandchildren, Tristan, Ashley, Cameron, Garrett, Shawn, Damien and Cole; four uncles and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Gilmore; father, Don Winters,  maternal grandparents Alma Scovill and wife Leona. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Feb. 23, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street, Rock Springs. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call the funeral chapel one hour prior to services.
