Eric Aldinger

Eric Aldinger, 75, of Green River, passed away quietly Thursday Jan. 4, 2018, in Salt Lake City.

He was born Sept. 17, 1942, in Torun, Poland while that region was occupied by German troops. His parents were Annie Gabriella Germin of Austria and Gotthilf Aldinger of Besserarabia, Ukraine.

The family moved to Stuttgart, Germany as the troops pulled back from Poland. The family was sponsored for emigration to the U.S. and arrived in Montana in 1951.

He learned English in Glendive, Mont., and graduated from high school in Spokane, Wash. He attended WSU, where he met his wife, Carol. They were married in 1966.

His college education was interrupted that same year by the draft board during the Vietnam war. He was transferred after 6 months from Vietnam to Okinawa, Japan, where he was assigned to a maintenance position with a Hawk Missile battery.

He left the Army in 1969, returning to Washington State University to finish his degree in chemical engineering.

He was employed by Stauffer Chemicals, and continued at that plant through all it's numerous owners, retiring after 30 years. He lived with his family in Green River until illness forced him to be moved to Salt Lake City.

He is survived by his wife Carol (Hughes) Aldinger, daughter Connie Lynn Arambula, son Kenneth Ryan Aldinger, brothers Herbert Aldinger and Ron Aldinger, sisters Heidi Marie Zornes, Monica Walter, and Dr. Shirley (Holly) Stave-Pool.

Memorial services will be held at the family's favorite mountain retreat when weather permits this summer.
