Aaliyah Brady and Maygen Stassinos sign letters of intent to play softball at Colorado Northwestern Community College Monday evening.

A pair of Sweetwater County softball players signed letters to play for Colorado Northwestern Community College next year.

The two, Green River's Aaliyah Brady and Rock Springs' Maygen Stassinos signed their letters of intent Monday evening. Brady played for the Green River Chaos softball team before switching to the Rock Springs Storm, where Stassinos plays.

Brady said she initially set up a recruitment profile through the Next College Student Athlete website, where the CNCC found her. While conducting an interview with the college coach, Brady said she mentioned Stassinos might be interested in playing collegiate softball as well. After the two visited the college, they decided it would be the right fit for them.

Stassinos, who plays shortstop and on first base, said the sport is something she enjoys playing.

"I've always enjoyed it and stuck with it," Stassinos said.

Brady, who plays on second base and in left field, said she enjoys spending weekend with her team, competing and playing a game she enjoys.

Brady said she's undecided as far as what her major would be, but may decide to study sports medicine. Stassinos said she wants to study to work in a pharmacy.

Both girls said they're thankful for the support their friends and family have given them. Brady also said she's thankful to God for giving her the ability to play, as well as her coaches Tana Gnose, Neil Malicoat, Letty Perry, Rick Yoak, Paul Johnson and Chris Bradford.
