Swimmers continue to swim strong

This past week, the Green River High School Lady Wolves swimming team continued to perform well.

The team took first on Thursday at the Lander/Jackson swim meet, third at the Green River swim meet on Friday and second at the Green River swim meet Saturday.

“They swam really well, we picked up a few more state qualifiers,” head coach Colleen Seiloff said.

She said a few of her swimmers were missing this weekend and that may have impacted their performance against bigger swim teams, including Sheridan and Cheyenne Central.

Seiloff said the Sheridan team is already being named as the team to beat at state this year.

“Central is always a strong team,” Seiloff said.

The team swam against a couple of the best teams in the state this past weekend and held their ground.

Against Sheridan, Seiloff was happy with how the team performed.

“It was nice to go against them and see them,” she said.

Another positive to this week’s competition was when they had the chance to swim in front of their home crowd in a familiar pool. Seiloff said it does make a difference when the girls compete at home.

The atmosphere is different at home.

“I think having people there to support you and cheer you on helps,” Seiloff said. “They get to swim in front of their family and friends.”

The Lady Wolves will travel to Laramie Friday and then to Cheyenne on Saturday.
