We have colds already?

It has literally only been two weeks of school and I’m already sick.

What gives?

It’s like from the moment school starts until the day it ends someone in the family has a cold or worse, the flu.

Everyone always jokes about kids being petri dishes, but I think they’re right.

My youngest son, John, came home with a soar throat and then a cough and runny nose accompanied by a lot of sneezing.

Now, I have a soar throat, terrible head congestion, a running nose and a little cough.

I thought we had taken all the precautions. I sanitized all of the door knobs, light switches and the handles on the cabinet doors, but all to no avail.

I made sure John and Matthew both washed their hands as soon as they got home from school before they ate a snack, but here we are again -- sick with colds.

So as I am sitting on the couch with my box of tissues in one hand and a cup of warm green tea in the other, I can’t help but feel miserable. Of course, by the time I am feeling terrible John is feeling better and so he and Matthew take advantage of the situation and run around the house like a couple of Energizer Bunnies. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad he’s feeling better, but when I feel as though I am on the verge of a migraine, I just need some quiet.

I mean they just keep going even when they have colds. I always find it amazing how kids will bounce right back, but adults with the same colds seem to just get wiped out.

I guess it doesn’t matter how I caught a cold, it may not have even come from my son, but it’s here once again.

To make it worse, this week is supposed to be nice out. It’s one thing to have a cold in the winter when there isn’t much to do anyway, but during the summer sucks.

I decide to take advantage of the situation and go over how important is it for my kids to wash their hands, cough into their elbows, use tissues and then throw them away and please don’t drink out of each other’s cups, especially mine.

I suspect the latter is how I obtained my little germ in the first place. I don’t know how many times I go over this with my kids, but it doesn’t seem to stick.

Matthew came home with the cold and now I am just hoping my husband doesn’t get it, however the odds aren’t in his favor.
