More work planned in GR, Little America

Residents will see more sixth-penny tax work going on throughout Green River.

According to a media release from the city, the intersection of Hitching Post Drive and Shoshone Avenue will close Sept. 5 for the next phase of construction work on Hitching Post Drive. Residents are recommended to use West Teton Boulevard and Monroe Avenue to get around the construction work. Residents can also expect to see the intersection of Crossbow Drive and Hitching Post Drive to open the same day.

The project consists of replacing a 12” water main and adding a new 30” storm sewer system, as well as paving the section of street. The city anticipates the project will finish in early October.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation also plans construction work as work near Little America is set to begin this week.

WYDOT will working on WYO 374 at the Little America interchange near exit 69 off Interstate 80 starting this week. The work will consist mainly of concrete repairs, with grading, milling plant mix, placing crushed base, and miscellaneous work on approximately 0.20 miles beginning at road marker 69.77.

Access to Little America will be maintained at all times, but driver’s can expect to see traffic control devices and potential delays during the work.

The service road will be closed just west of the entrance to County Road 3 (FMC Road). This means there will be no access to County Road 3 from Little America.

County Road 3 and the mines can be accessed through the Westvaco Interchange at about milepost 72. Advanced signing will be placed at critical points to warn drivers of the closure.

“We hope the closure won’t be too disruptive to the local mine traffic. Most drivers heading to the mines from both Green River and the Bridger Valley come in off the Westvaco Interchange. Access to the FMC road from the Westvaco Interchange will continue undisturbed,” said WYDOT Project Engineer Chase Cimburek.

The completion date for this work is Oct. 31, 2017. The contract was awarded to DeBernardi Construction Company, Inc. for $807,000.
