Kids want drivers buy some lemonade

One could see them before they could hear their shouts.

They were standing on a corner near Jackson Elementary School waiting for cars to drive by.

"Lemonade. Get your lemonade for .50 cents," Dominic Hamel, Donavin Summa and Drea Summa yelled in unison.

Sometimes after other kids had drank some of their lemonade, they would join in on the chant each time a car drove by. Every once in a while, a car would stop and people would get out and pay for a lemonade.

Hamel said they just decided to sell lemonade to make some extra money.

"We decided to get pink lemonade because that's what we had," Donavin said.

At first, the kids thought about putting up a pop stand, but then decided that would be too much of a hassle.

They also considered setting up a popsicle stand, but then they would have needed coolers to keep the popsicles cold. Plus, they didn't have any on hand and they didn't want to make a trip to the store to purchase some.

Hamel and the Summas not only sold lemonade to people, but offered to sell fidget spinners for $10. The kids didn't say how many of the spinners they had to sell, only that they decided not to go to the store and purchase more.

Hamel and Donavin were going to split whatever money they made.

"I'm doing it for free," Drea said.

She just wanted to hang out with her brother and friend and see how much money they could raise.

The children didn't even have plans on what they were going to spend their money on, but they could figured that out after they made the money.

Hamel told the others he might have to leave the lemonade-selling business early because he had a championship baseball game he had to play in. The Summas told Hamel they would keep selling and give him some of the money.

To advertise their lemonade stand, the children took an old poster board which was used for a school dinosaur project and wrote "Get Lemonade For 50 cents" on the other side of it.
