Sandra "Sandy" Louise Mitchell

Sandra "Sandy" Louise Mitchell passed away peacefully at home May 8, 2017, surrounded by family and friends.

Sandy was born an identical twin Aug. 27, 1957, 6 minutes after her sister Cynthia. She was born in Ackerman, Miss., to Melville E. and Gloria Woods Mitchell. She attended St. Georges Episcopal Day School and Coahoma County High School in Clarksdale, Miss. She received her bachelor of arts from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
